Hi All,
I am prepping my IP350 for shipping and need to remove the Hoyt boom. Any words of wisdom before I start taking things apart ?

That is very odd. I have shipped my IP35, it does not have a hoyt boom, but I do not understand why that ha to be removed? Is it too high on the truck trailer? Are you trucking with www.MoveMyBoat.com they truck all IPs out of the factory?

I re-measured the height from the jib boom to the water line and came up with a bit less than 8'. To this I added the draft of my boat 4'-3". That is 12'-3" +/-.
My shipper(Safeharborhaulers) indicated 12'-10" as a max height before moving to the next level and additional fees for permits etc. When I posted this I felt I might be best to err on the side of caution and remove the Hoyt boom.
I'm inclined now to let my shipper call it good to go and move on to the hundred other details of my trip.
I would still love to know how to to remove the hoyt boom and understand it as a service item. I can't find anything on the internet that addresses this. Thanks for your response.
P.S. I will check out your shippers referral.

Anne:
I thought the height loaded was at 13'3" to 13'6"  But your trucking company should know. It usually has been the IP bow pulpit that limited my trucking. Here is a photo of when we trucked and you will see that I even left on our Kato Marine Island Davits which are way higher than your staysail boom. Heck, I even left the dinghy in the davits too. Look how high that is compared to the bow. This is the Joules Yacht Transport Company, as I said, they move all IPs for the factory for 30 plus years, THIS is who I recommend you get to move your IP... www.MoveMyBoat.com

Here is my blog post on 2013 when I trucked back to the Island packet Factory for then to test out the IP Refit Program. I offer them my yacht and $40,000 to see if they wanted to start a program to refit our aging fleet just like Hinckley does. After my refit the factory said no, they did not want to do refit. Now, thanks to Colin Mack, he stepped up and took on the idea in 2014-2015 and we now have our very own Island packet Refit Yacht Service Yard in Stuart Florida. mackyachtservices.com/

Thanks again for your response. I will give Joule a call on Monday .
The 12'-10" I refer to is the total boat height. That of course goes up when loaded on the truck. I've come across Mack Yacht services in someone's You Tube video. Wish I had someone like that here.

Ann:
If you look at this latest IP Factory video and go forward to the 9 minute make you will see an Island packet 439 on the truck moving out of the factory!. That is nearly a 50 foot IP on a truck, and it fits under the bridges.
