Re-galvanize Anchor was created by Augydoggy
Both my anchors are in need of restoration. I tried the wire brush and galvanized spray paint but that didn't last even a year. I'd like to have them professionally re-galvanized. On line searches turned up nada. Anyone know of a place within a day's drive of Annapolis that can do this?

Tom:

I need to get this done as well, but I will be doing this in May after we sail back. I found these two places:

Hayden - If they have a minimum weight would you be interested in doing it now, split the cost?

OK, well thanks for the leads. I'll show off my gorgeous "new" anchors when I get down there next Spring. Fair winds and all that stuff.

I got a quote from Baltimore Galvanizing (baltimoregalv.com). Their minimum is $252.50 so that's what it would cost to do my two anchors. I'm gonna ask 'em how many anchors we can fit in for that price. Must be somebody else around who needs to get their anchors redone.

does your chain need to be done also?

I have a short length of chain, 20', on my secondary anchor that could stand to be redone. Primary, 300', is still in good condition.

Even with the small amount of gear I have to get refinished the price, $252.50, is worth going it alone. I'm just inherently cheap and was hoping to split the price with someone else.

Here in New England I was quoted $1.25 per pound for galvanizing, plus additional 60% for stripping prior to dipping. $350 minimum dipping charge which can almost be achieved with my 200' of 5/16 chain (1.1# per foot) plus my anchor. Not ready yet, but exploring. Hope this data point helps.

I went ahead and took my two anchors and 20' of chain to Baltimore Galvanizing near Essex, MD. The price was a minimum of $250 which included cleaning. Kinda pricey for just two anchors but I'm getting short on time and was unable to find anyone else to go in on it with me. Final results were worth it. Nice work. Recommended.
