Used an iPad (the one with 3G and GPS - althought you don't need to use the 3G) and the Navionics App to navigate across the English Channel. You can make waypoints and routes, Trace your tracks, check tidelevel, tidal flow and harbour layouts and informnation. It's great. But be careful of direct sunlight on the iPad - it can't take much heat. We also kept it in a watertight bag.
