November 1, 2005 we loaded Unity onto the ship Explorer at Newport, RI, to be delivered in about ten days to Charlotte Amalie, St Thomas. The ship is over 500' long, over 100' beam, and carried about 40 yachts on this trip. It submerges, opens its cargo bay, and the vessels motor into position to be secured according to a carefully engineered loading plan. Unity, an IP350, was one of the smaller vessels carried. The largest were sailing and motor yachts over 70'. An old 12 meter racer was towed in by its RIB tender, which was the smallest boat carried on its own bottom. About ten days later the ship arrived at Crown Bay, St. Thomas, where we checked the boat out, still dry on its stands. The ship was then flooded, and we drove out the way we came in, to begin cruising. Boat was washed and in perfect condition. Excellent service.
