This is what I worked out for comfortable seating with the through the legs steering. Usually the AP is steering and I use the SS wheel shaft as a foot rest. I am tall enough that the extra height is no problem, but I may build a small teak platform for the Admiral.

Sport A Seat with an extra spacer to bring the height up to aft deck level.

Replaced the SS wire and pelican hook with longer nylon strap. Allows better back angle.

Nylon strap, used a trigger snap but most any strap type disconnect will work.

Strap in front of ladder. Don't try this at home.

Strap extender for showering with both hands with ladder in down position.

For those of us that don't have stern perch seats, this works out pretty good.
