Cruising Afghanistan

A shift of pace from the normal ocean cruising. A trip to Kabul, Afghanistan, in Feb 09, to support NATO special forces. I plan to return to Kabul in May for a few more months.

My transpo fm arpt to ISAF HQ. 2 Land Cruisers and 4 armed Australian soldiers.

Required traveling gear. Helmet and chest body armor. Plus my laptop bag and sea bag.

My barracks. Home of NATO Special Forces troops. Modular container construction.

My bed in room for two. Other rooms have 2 bunkbeds for four.

The large brown container is the KAM Airlines office. No joke. The flight was excellent.

This is Dubai Intl Airport. Something wrong with the distribution of wealth in this world.

My Afghan porter who took great care of me at the arpt. Couldnt have made it without him.
